About Us

Lush was born when trichologist Mark Constantine first met beauty therapist Liz Weir in the early 1970s at a beauty salon in the tiny seaside town of Poole, England. A few years later, the duo put their ideas and dynamics together to create fresh, organic, cosmetic products, initially named: Cosmetics-To-Go. Along with a team of people, they used raw materials such as oranges, lemon juice and cinnamon to create made-up soap moulds -such as Sea Vegetable and Bohemian soap. The first never-before-seen items were also created, such as the Blackberry Bath Bomb!

The company’s philosophy centers around the use of fresh, organic, vegetarian ingredients, ethically bought from sources that maintain their focus on human rights and fair trade, having as a result the creation of handmade products - many of which are packaging-free - and most importantly: always being against animal testing.

The first shop opened in Poole in 1995. After a competition was carried out to change the company’s name, a customer named Liz Bennett suggested the name ‘LUSH’, which reflects the fresh, rich, organic character the products have. The crowd’s warm welcoming led to the company’s expansion and creation of the first large shop in King’s Road, which was soon filled up with customers and people from all over the world who wanted to open a Lush store in their country.

There are now over 800 stores in more than 50 countries all over the world. The first Lush store in Greece is located in Thessaloniki, at 120 Tsimiski street and the second in Athens at Golden Hall, L. Kifisias 37A, Marousi. Since the December of 2016 we have been sharing our products, experiences and bubbles with you and we invite you over for a full personalized treatment, straight from our hands to yours.
