At Lush we love naked products! Our stores happily introduce you to a full range of packaging-free products which help reduce waste and provide our planet with a little more care - in a Lush way of course.
By reducing our packaging we have come up with fabulous, effective products, such as our soaps, bath bombs and massage bars, which are self-preserving due to the lack of water in their formula. In the case of shampoo bars, a solid shampoo does the job of three 250g bottles of liquid shampoo. What is achieved therefore is the reduction of packaging and the creation of a smaller carbon footprint.
Very well so far! Do you still happen to wonder how you can use these naked products? We have a full handy set of guidelines for every kind of naked product right ahead.
How to use:
Hair
Shampoo Bar
Simply wet your shampoo bar and stroke over your hair a few times to lather it up, or rub the bar between your hands to create a lather. Gently massage it into the scalp and hair, as you would with a liquid shampoo. Rinse away and condition.
Leave on the side in a cool dry place, ideally one of our cork pots, ready for when you need it.
Pressed Conditioner
Hold this bar under the warm water for a few moments then work between your hands to release this conditioner from its solid form. When it’s reached a creamy consistency, massage directly onto wet locks, adding as much product as you desire. Focus on the mid-lengths and ends of the hair then rinse away for superstar hair. To enable this solid bar to dry between uses, place this heavenly hydrator somewhere away from water. If you’re travelling you can pop it in a pot or a tin, just be sure to let it dry out before you tuck it away.
Hot Oil Treatment
Fill a mug with boiling water (leaving a little space at the top) and simply stir in your hot oil treatment until it has completely melted. Allow the treatment to cool for 20 minutes before applying to dry hair. Sit back and relax for 20 minutes before shampooing out. Made too much? Keep in the bathroom for a moisture top up as often as you need for up to 4 weeks.
Henna
Break up your brick and gradually stir in freshly boiled water. Mixing in a bain-marie (or heatproof bowl in a saucepan) is the easiest way to melt your brick as the added layer of hot water around the formula keeps it nice and toasty to release the dye pigment. You’re aiming for the consistency of melted chocolate.
Add Ultrabland or Ultraplant to your hairline and around the ears if you’re the messy sort.
Comb and section your hair, check your henna is a comfortable temperature, and apply to the roots of the hair, working from the nape of the neck up to the crown. Use a brush for extra precision.
Smear abundantly through the lengths and ends of the hair with (gloved) hands and pile on top of the head.
Cover with a shower cap for a warmer result, leaving on for up to two hours.
Rinse thoroughly (we recommend a co-wash or conditioner to initially lift the henna, followed by shampoo and conditioner). Turn heads.
You can apply another coat of henna as soon as your hair is dry if this is part of a two-step application, or wait a while. Both henna and indigo will continue to develop over a few days and so your end result may be subtly different from your first rinse away. vidual strand like a varnish, adding an extra layer of protection and a glossy coating. Safe and good for your hair, you can henna up as often as you like.
